Description

This course is designed for Criminal Justice Personnel who have been involved with fingerprints and is designed for those personnel just starting or has some limited experience with latent print comparison. Prior fingerprint comparison experience is required. The objective is to instruct the student in the history of fingerprints, the physiology and formation of friction ridge skin, terminology/description used in latent print analysis, obtaining major case print, past and present methodologies used in latent print analysis, determining suitability of latent images, the effects of distortion, conducting palm print comparisons, and courtroom testimony involving latent print examinations. The student will need to bring their own fingerprint magnifiers. This course will not certify the student as a Latent Print Examiner.
